O2 WOOD is a small woodworking studio, offering beautifully shaped handmade objects, ranging from household items to unique wooden jewelry. Characteristic of the O2 products is the finding of a fresh conceptual approach to every idea, playing and experimenting with materials, and also knowing the functional and technological aspects of production.

Nature teaches us to accept the imperfections and the transiency of all things. Nothing is forever and our time is short, so we shouldn’t waste it on anything superfluous. O2 objects try to follow this philosophy. When we succeed in perfectly matching the shape to the function, then we know that we have in our hands a thing of beauty.

Hand Turned Fruit Bow
This handcrafted wooden bowl is distinguished by unique design and sophisticated manufacturing process.
To make a wooden bowl out of walnut wood, famous for its hardness, represents a special challenge, but it allows for precise shaping and enables exquisitely smooth side walls. The bowl thus acquires elegance and functions as an independent sculptural object.
28 cm in dimater, 4,5 cm high

Little Black Walnut Bowl
This is a unique piece with character that will bring a smile to your face.
It is hand turned on lathe of one piece of solid walnut wood. The outer wall of the bowl is blackened in the process of ebonizing, that uses a reaction between iron oxide and the natural tannins in wood to create a natural looking black, that is actually created in the fibers of the wood.
11 cm in diameter and 6 cm high

Little Blue Walnut Bowl
The outer wall of this handturned bowl is coloured with dark blue dye, which consists of microscopic particles that penetrate the wood itself, thus adding deep, vibrant color without obscuring the grain. 18 cm in diameter and 4 cm high

Hair Stick Turquoise Maple
Simple, but lovely: a bun holder, that can be a perfect little gift for a sister, mother or a girlfriend. Made out of a beautiful piece of flame maple wood, highly figured with tiger-striped rays running perpendicular to the grain pattern. Part of the hairpin is colored with tuorquise blue dye. Length 18 cm.

    About Metka Zver

    My name is Metka Zver. I’m a Slovenian designer-maker, crafting wood and I own a small business named O2 wood. I’m one of those handcrafters, that at 40 and something decided to walk out of their regular job, leave behind the corporate world and instead follow their dreams. My particular dream was creating beautiful objects with my own hands. The material of my choice is wood. The technique that I’m more and more obsessed with: woodturning.
