BelaBela means WhiteWhite in Slovenian. It is a product design brand by the textile and fashion designer Jana Mršnik. Through the awareness of the importance of sustainability, and the growing need for products with a personal touch, all the collections intertwine a serial/industrial production with uniqueness and intimacy of manual work.
Inspired by traditional handicraft techniques, the latest projects include a hand embroidery as one of the skills which over time has gone into oblivion. The experience of manual work is also offered to the user themselves; by embroidering their own pattern, they connect to the product in their own way, and thus establish even more personal attitude toward it.
The project is designed with a purpose to give the user the chance to re-evaluate their attitude towards consumerism, and to re-think their perceptions of work and products’ value.
